Masterpiece Art—Basket Weaving

Posted on

Students in Room D4 worked with our docents and our PTA President to learn how to weave baskets! The day started with some background knowledge on why cultures started weaving baskets followed by demonstrations of the skill using string. Students then got a lot of support as they built the base of their baskets.

The lesson is a reminder of how capable these students are. Despite the difficulty of the project, students persisted, assisted each other, and got a lot done during our first basket weaving session.

What a great site! Thank you Mr. Grossman for setting aside time for this activity. What a sense of accomplishment that these students had. They were so persistent and wonderful to work with.
