RoomD4–Constructing and Critiquing Math Arguments

Posted on

A big part of finishing fourth grade and being on target for fifth grade and College and Career Readiness is being able to “Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.” This has been a point of emphasis since we returned from winter break and the students are quickly becoming quite good at it.

Several days a week children receive a math question that they answer with a written explanation. Students then hear how a peer got an answer and provide constructive feedback and help where appropriate.

Ask your child about their “Math Writes” or come visit the class to look at their math journals!
